About Dr. Angie's Tutoring
I am Dr. Angie. I have made a career as an educator for more than 25 years. I hold a doctorate in higher education from Bowling Green State University (OH); a master’s in English: professional writing from Wright State University (OH); a
bachelor’s in communication and English from the College of Mount Saint Joseph (OH); and a certificate of deaf studies
from Sinclair Community College (OH). I also hold a PK-12 Administrators Certificate from the Michigan Association of
Secondary School Principals.
I started Dr. Angie's Tutoring & Learning Resources Center as a grassroots mission to support K-12 students in underserved communities in and around Ypsilanti, MI after COVID19. My grand opening was in June 2021 at 317 Ecorse Road, Unit 1, Ypsilanti, MI. I started as a limited liability company offering private and small group tutoring for an affordable price. Over the years, the business' reputation grew and so did my client base. In March 2024, I decided not to renew my lease on Ecorse. To provide more accessibility, I started meeting students at local libraries, which are strategically located throughout communities and readily accessible by foot or public transportation. I also transitioned Dr. Angie's Tutoring to a 501(C)3 as recognized by Michigan and the IRS. This status opened up more and grant opportunities. In fact, a grant and service fees made it possible to purchase and renovate a mobile unit to provide yet another accessibility option to students needing tutoring. I am committed to bringing affordable and accessible tutoring to students in underrepresented areas.
